This handmade leather journal is ideal for artist looking for a mixture of paper mediums in one place. Consisting of handtorn 230gsm black paper, 300gsm watercolour paper, 140gsm white cartridge paper, grey and tan sketching paper, whatever you feel like sketching or painting, this is the place to do it.
The engraving on the back is a vegvísir - an Icelandic magical stave intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather. The symbol is attested in the Huld Manuscript, collected in Iceland by Geir Vigfusson in Akureyri in 1860.
The clasp is held in place with hand hammered rivets and twistss to close.
All my leather journals are handbound using natural hemp thread and use paper made locally a couple of miles from my studio.
